Goodbye Basinet

Logan is growing up so fast. He is now sleeping in his crib at night instead of his basinet. He fits in the basinet but can kick the bottom if he wants so he just wakes himself up and that's why he is now in his crib. He seems to like his crib but it is harder on me because he's not right next to me anymore where I can check him any time I want. He has been doing pretty good at sleeping mostly through the night. He'll occasionally wake up around 1 or 2 but once you give him his pacifier he just goes right back to sleep until 3 or 4. Tonight we are going to try and do his last feeding later and see if he'll sleep until 5 or 6. It's hard for me to get up with him at 3 or 4 and then have to get up for work at 6. This first week back to work so far hasn't been too bad but with each passing day I get more and more tired. Good thing it's Wednesday and they are only two more days where I can't go back to bed after the morning feeding.

Life changes

It's amazing how having a child completely changes your life in every way. Everyone always talks about the obvious things that change but not really how your perspective on life changes. I was reading a book the other day and it was one that I read read before but now I just found it a little trashy and didn't want to read it any more. Then tonight I was channel flipping and there was a show on conjoined twins that were being separated and the parents had to watch as their girls were wheeled away to the operating room. They didn't know if they would see either one alive again and I had Logan sitting on my lap and just thought how awful that would be. I love Logan so much that I can't imagine being in a similar situation. Before he was born I would have just watched the show and thought how sad it was but it wouldn't have meant that much to me. Now even the little things like Logan smiling at me as I leave him to go to work mean the world. The drive home from work is so much easier because I know he is waiting for me when I get home.

Happy Birthday to me

Today was my birthday. Last night we went to my parents house and had crepes for my birthday. It was nice of my dad to make them since they are my favorite and a lot of work. We didn't do much after that, just talked. Today I went to work, day 2 of coming back and Mike-e and Logan met me for lunch. We went over to the park and I got to sit on a blanket with Logan and watch him smile and play. He is so cute. After work I went home where Mike-e had made dinner. He asked me to check it because it didn't look right and we realized that he had forgotten the cream cheese in the cheese sauce. I was able to fix the meal and it was really good. Later we went for a walk. I really love going on walks as a family. It's a lot of fun and helps me get back in shape.

Sunny Sunday

Today we went for a walk over to the Willow Creek trail. It was a nice day out and Logan was in a good mood. We walked over to the end of the Willow Creek trail and then turned around because it had been an hour and by the time we got back to the house it would be time for Logan to eat. On the way back we saw this huge snake in the water. It was probably 8ft long. Mike-e started video taping it and it started watching Mike-e. At one point it started to get closer and I wondered how fast it could move. It was really pretty.

Visiting Friends

Today Tawnya picked Logan and me up and we went up North to visit Melissa and her son Lincoln. Jennifer then came over with her son Graham. The 3 boys were all born in March. Here is a picture of the 3 boys who are all 2 months old and Remington who is now 7 months old. Lincoln and Graham both have crazy hair. All the babies were so cute and it was fun to compare the habits of each one.

2 months

Logan is now 2 months old. It's hard to believe that 2 months ago I was laying in the hospital seeing him for the first time. I look at pregnant women now and it's difficult for me to remember that I was once that big and Logan was inside waiting to come out. It feels almost as if someone just gave me the best baby in the world and told me that he was mine. I love him so much and love watching him grow each day. We went to the doctor today and found out that he is a healthy, big boy. He weighed 12 lbs 6.5 oz and was in the 65% for his weight, height and head size. The doctor sat him up so she could test his neck strength and I was so proud watching him hold his head up on his own. He got his shots and while he was very cranky when they did them he quickly recovered. Later in the evening when his Tylenol wore off we had a hard time feeding him and had to resort to using a bottle. Even with the bottle he took about an hour just to eat about 2-3 oz. Having him be fussy made me realize how lucky I am normally because he is a very calm baby and only really cries when he is hungry or over stimulated. I'm not used to him crying for more than 5 minutes. He is such a cute well behaved baby.

Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day and while it seems so natural to have Logan it's weird to think that I'm a mother. Today I walked to my parents house with Logan. Mike-e had to work until 2:30 so I had him pick me up from my parent's house when he was done. The walk over to their house was nice. It was a beautiful day, a little hot but there was a nice breeze. I loaded Logan up in the stroller and got my Ipod and we set out. I sung Beetles songs to Logan along the way until he fell asleep. He really likes the soundtrack from Across the Universe. Once we got to my parents house everyone wanted to hold Logan and I played Zuma on the computer. My aunt Julie feed Logan from the bottle I brought. My sister Brittany gave me a gift certificate to PF Changs and my mom gave me one to Olive Garden along with some books for Logan. It was nice of them to think of me and the gift certificates are the perfect gift since we are going to be on a tighter budget when Mike-e quits. My mother-in-law gave me a wonderful statue of parents holding their baby. It's sitting in the baby's room right now so we can look at it on a regular basis. Both of our families are so supportive in everything we do and they all love Logan. It's nice that they are so close and can visit on a regular basis.

Amy's Birthday

Today was my sister Amy's birthday. She turned 22. We went over to my parents house to visit with the family and my aunt and uncle who came out from Price, Utah for Amy's birthday and for Mother's day. My mom and my aunt picked up Tokyo Joes for everyone and then we had cake. Amy got a lot of nice gifts including a hat that makes her look like a three musketeer. Amy loves that movie so she was really excited. Later Amy, Brittany and Mike-e went into the back yard to break in Amy's new baseball bat and balls. Amy is so cute and really got into it even though it was cold out.

Look mom I can hold my head up all by myself!

Another one bites the dust

Logan is now almost 2 months old and it's amazing how much he has grown.  Yesterday I went to put him in one of his really cute outfits and I couldn't get it over his head.  That's another outfit that he can no longer wear.  I'm putting all of my favorite ones in a box for our next child in case we have another boy.  The first picture  is  just a week ago  and the next one was a couple of days after Logan was born.  Crazy how fast they grow.

MS Walk Saturday May 3rd

This last Saturday my sister and I went downtown and participated in the MS Walk in honor of my friend Julie.  My mom had to work in the temple all day so I had to bring Logan with us.  It was nice to have the stroller to help me along as I'm still way out of shape from my c-section.   The MS walk is a really great walk as you can choose to do either 1 mile or 3 miles so there is something for everyone.  We did the 3 mile walk and it was easy but I was glad it was only 3 miles because I was getting tired towards the end.  Logan is so cute.  I put on this hat for him that has the strings on the side and somehow he wiggled so much that it shifted so the string ran right down the middle of his face.  I fixed it about twice but then gave up when it kept going back that way.  It was a nice day out but in the morning there was a cold breeze coming off the lake.  Every time the wind would find it's way to Logan he would squeak.  It cracks me up that he squeaks.  I joke with Mike-e that he is speaking squirrel like in the movie "Emperor's New Groove" by Disney.
