Today for Christmas we went up to Mike-e's parents house. His uncle's family came over as well as Sarah's boyfriend. I was worried how Logan would handle all the people but he did great. He was social and did not cry at all. We opened all the present before the extended family got there and once again Logan was very spoiled. He got some more toys, clothes and some movies. We ate dinner once everyone got there and then played a game. While we were playing the game, Logan's second cousin Phil was playing with him. Logan likes to hang upside down for some reason and while Phil was doing this Logan discovered it was even better if he stuck his tongue out. From that point on he was sticking that tongue out that it was necessary. It was weird but still really cute. Later after everyone left Logan got really tired and fell asleep on me. It was great since he never does that any more and I miss it. Unfortunately he is getting heavier so you notice it more. Overall it was a great Christmas with good family.

Christmas Eve
Every Christmas Eve we go over to my parents house to celebrate Christmas. This year was Logan's first. We had a good dinner of baked chicken and veggies and while Logan ate a little bit of the food he wasn't very hungry and mostly played with it. After dinner my dad played with Logan while the rest of us decorated little treasure boxes. It was nice to get to do something creative and know that Logan was having a good time too. We opened presents afterwards and boy did Logan get spoiled. He got lots of toys and clothes. He was also crawling around in the wrapping paper and got a bow stuck to his butt. It was really funny. Logan is really into climbing and wanted to climb over all the furniture and the presents. We all had a great time.

Making Christmas Ornaments
Awhile ago I thought it would be fun if Logan made ornaments for his grandparents. I thought if I could get his hand prints and feet prints on a clear ornament that would be cool. I started with the hands but when I tried to get them on the ornament Logan would squish his hand up because he wanted to play. I ended up just letting him get the red paint all over with his hands then did feet print in green. They looked cute when they were done but wasn't originally what I had in mind. Logan got paint all over himself and we had to give him a bath afterwords but he is just so cute no matter what he's doing.

Logan's First Thanksgiving
Today was Logan's first Thanksgiving. We went over to my parents house for dinner. Logan was so cute in his Thanksgiving outfit. I know it's a little cheezy that he had an special outfit for Thanksgiving but I like it. Dinner was great and afterwords we outside so Logan could swing a little bit. We weren't out there very long since it was a little chilly. Logan loves to crawl around and pull himself up so he did that for a little bit and then took a nap. I was happy he fell asleep at my parent's house since he has trouble sleep at places other than home. We played a couple of games and then Brittany and I did a workout video. It was a lot of fun and we really had a great time.

8 Months old
Logan is now 8 months old. He is getting so big. He now army crawls around the house which is cute and sometimes annoying. He keeps crawling over to the dog's water and dumping it on himself. We had to lower his pack'n'play because he tried to climb out. He also can go from crawling back to sitting up so he can reach things. It's amazing how much more he can do now than just months ago. He doesn't have any teeth yet so he's still drooling like crazy. His will drool puddles on the floor then stick his head in it. In the picture his hair is kind of wet because of he put it in his drool. It's kind of funny.

Halloween Weekend
For Halloween this year we decided to go up to Estes Park. A couple of years ago Mike-e and I happened to be in Estes Park during Halloween and found out how cool it is. Every year they shut down main street and everyone goes trick-o-treating up and down the shops. They give out caramel apples and hot chocolate. We thought it would be a fun place to take Logan for his first Halloween and give us a mini vacation. It was perfect weather and we had a really good time. We went for a little hike earlier in the day and then joined the rest of the town around 7:00. I think if we can afford it then we go next year as well.

Halloween Party
We had a Halloween party at church last night. Logan has this cute skeleton hoody set. The party was ok, it will be a lot better once Logan is older and cares more. We went for a walk afterwards and played on this giant rock at the park. It's a really cool rock that you could even do bouldering moves on.
Boo at the Zoo
Yesterday we went to boo at the zoo. It was a lot of fun and great weather. We met my friend Tawnya and her son Remington there. Logan was a lion to begin with but started getting too hot so we changed him out of his costume. Mike-e shot the picture in raw so I'll add some later once they get converted.

Boulder Falls

Today we went up to Boulder to check out the falls. It was a little cloudy but not too bad out. Mike-e and I have very fond memories of the falls. When we were just friends (about 10 years ago) we went up there together. I had never been there before and was wearing sandals and kind of nice clothes. I don't know why we decided to do this but we ended up climbing the mountain and went around to above the falls. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time. On the way back down we had to cross the stream and I took off my shoes and decided to throw them to the other side. One of the shoes went straight up and landed right in the stream to be carried over the falls. I had to hike back the rest of the way barefooted. It's one of those stories that Mike-e loves to tell because it's silly. It was great taking Logan up there and telling him the story, which I'm sure he'll hear lots more times.
Goopy Eyes
I remember the day we were going to take Logan home from the hospital the Kaiser nurse came in for one last check. She noticed that Logan had tears running down his face and commented on how most babies this young didn't have tears yet. At the time I thought that maybe Logan was just different but I didn't think it was a bad thing. Later I learned that he had clogged tear ducts and that the tears we were seeing shouldn't be there. The doctors assured us though that in 90% of all babies it goes away on it's own. Well Mike-e and I watched and waited for them to go away but they seemed to get worse not better. Soon he was oozing white goopy stuff out of his eyes that would get all over his face and hair as he rubbed his eyes. The combination of the ooze and the tears started to dry out his eyes and make them red and puffy. The doctor told us to try massaging the tear ducts which both of us worked on each day. I started given Logan baths and showers almost everyday to make it easier to clean his eyes but still they were not getting better. So yesterday we took Logan to the eye doctor. The eye doctor Dr. Steele is part of the Children's Eye physicians group and is located right by our house. The office was really nice and the staff was amazing with Logan. They checked not only his clogged tear ducts but his vision as well. He is slightly far-sighted which is exactly where he should be for his age and everything (other than the tear ducts) looked good. They put this ultra-violet dye in his eyes to see how clogged the ducts were and none of it went away so they were really clogged. They told us we could wait until he was a year old for them to go in and clean it out in case it went away on it's own but we really didn't want to wait, neither one of believe it was going to clear up on it's own. So they strapped him down in this stiff board harness, same one they use in hospital for kids who need stitches in there head. And then they cleaned out his ducts. It didn't look very fun at all and Logan cried the whole time but it was fast and only took maybe 5 minutes. They didn't have to put him under which Mike-e and I thought they were going to have to and were very relieved that they weren't. Afterwards they gave him to me and he feel right asleep. SInce the procedure his eyes have been so much better. Normally in the mornings when we get him up his eyes are so goopy that he can't open one or both and we call him "Baby one eyed" or "Baby no eyes". Today he woke up and there was no ooze. His eyes weren't red at all and they looked great. It is throwing me off though because I'm kind of used to him having the red lines around his eyes. Now we don't have to edit all his pictures before we print or post them. The picture above is of Logan before the procedure. You can see how his eyelashes are stuck together and there is dryness and gunk around his eyes.

6 Month Check up
Since Logan is now 6 months old he had to go to the doctor. He was very cute at the doctor's office and loved to play with the white paper they make you put the babies on. He thought it was great that it was all crinkly and he didn't want to let go when I had to move him to be weighed. He weighed 16 lbs. 13 oz (might be more, he kept holding onto things) and was 27 inches long and his head was 17.5 inches around. He was sitting up on the table on his own for about 10 minutes while we were waiting for the doctor. The doctor came in and said he was doing really well sitting and then check him out and said he looked really good. He is still having problems with his eyes (clogged tear ducts) so we will probably end up taking him to the eye specialist. He can now start on fruit and should have fruit and cereal for breakfast, then veggies and cereal for lunch and dinner. All the other feedings will still be milk. He got 5 shots which he was not happy about (forgot to give him Tylenol before) but seemed to recover pretty quickly. We came home after the appointment and Logan and I took a nap together. I honestly can't get enough naps together. They are the best. He cranky later in the evening while Mike-e was at school but cheered up as soon as Mike-e got home. He probably just missed his daddy. He is a really good baby and is hardly ever cranky.

6 months old
Today Logan is 6 months old. It's hard to believe that so much time has gone by and he is getting so big. I look at pictures from when he was born and he almost seems like a different baby. We went to the zoo to celebrate his half birthday. It was a lot of fun and Logan did great. We went into the bird house and he liked watching the big toucan. I feed him rice cereal and veggies afterwards and then we hit up the aquarium place. He really likes to watch the fish especially the clown ones. It's really cute watching him. He also wanted to touch everything. I remember the first time we took him to the zoo and he just slept, or the time after that when I tried to breastfeed him there and he was just cranky and wouldn't eat. He has developed so much and is such a joy to have in our lives.

Day off
I took today off from work and it was a really great day. We didn't really do anything just stayed inside. What made it a really great day is that Logan took a nap on me. I know that sounds kind of silly but when Logan was born he would sleep on us all the time. As he got older he would move too much and wouldn't go to sleep if you were holding him. Today I was holding him and he just rested his head on me and slept for about an hour and a half. When they are this little they really don't hug you when they are awake so it's nice when they do it in their sleep. I love being able to spend time with him. He is the best baby and I'm so lucky to have him in my life.
Sweet Potato goodness
Logan has been eating veggies for about a month now. Tonight I was making a sweet potato for me and decided to take part of it and mash it up for Logan so he could get used to the texture. He didn't like it as much as the store bought baby food but I think it just needed to be mixed with some water or breastmilk. Probably was just too thick. He was really cute eating it though and made a huge mess.

Garden of the Gods
Today we went to the Garden of the Gods down in Colorado Springs. It was a perfect day for it, since it wasn't too hot. We walked around and watched the climbers for awhile. I really miss climbing and hope we get back into it soon. Logan was like a little climber himself and loved touching the rock. He really likes different textures.

Dumb dog
Sierra got out of the yard again! She squeezed through this spot in the fence which couldn't be bigger than a couple of inches. Mike-e got in the car to go look for her and found her at the bottom of the street covered in cactus thorns. We tried to get them all out but she had them in her paws, her face and even some in her mouth. We ended up having to take her to the vet, which since it was after 5:00 meant the emergency room. $300 later and she is doing good. I really wish she'd stay in the yard.

Veggies!
Cute picture!

The other day I gave Logan and bath and thought it would be fun to try and give him a mohawk. His hair looked so cute I couldn't resist taking pictures. Mike-e then used his photo editing program to make one of the pictures look really good. I posted it because I think it's so cute and Mike-e did a really good job with it.

Fireworks
Tonight there was a concert in the park by our house. Since Lone Tree was not able to resume the fireworks on the 4th of July they used what they had left over for the concert tonight. We didn't go to the concert because we had a really nice dinner with my family at Red Lobster since my aunt Deanne and my cousin Jenny were in town. Originally we were going to go so that Logan could see the fireworks. When we got home from dinner the fireworks started and it turns out we could see them from our house. We took Logan outside so he could see. He watched them all but I couldn't tell if he liked them or not since he just starred at them. At least he was awake for these ones and now we know that you can see them from our house so next year we won't have to go down to the park if we don't want to.

Logan's First Rockies Game
Tonight Logan went to his first Rockies game. When we got there it started to rain and Logan just sat on my lap while I tried to keep him dry. He didn't seem to mind at all and would just squeak occasionally when a big gust of wind would hit him. He did really well and didn't start to get restless until about his nap time. In this picture you can see how wet Mike-e is from the rain. Logan didn't get wet at all and was nice and warm while the rest of us were a little chilly.

Growing up
Logan is growing so fast He holds himself up so well and laughs a lot. I love to hear him him laugh, it's so cute. He was 20 weeks old on the 31st. I can still remember when Mike-e and I went downtown for the 20 week ultra sound and we got to see the first signs of what Logan was going to look like. Which each milestone that Logan hits I'm very happy and proud but a little sad that he is growing up so fast. Before I know it I'm going to have a toddler running around chasing the dogs.

Rice Cereal
Yesterday Logan had his first meal of something other than just breastmilk. The doctor said we could start Logan on rice cereal and see how that went. After Logan has been on rice cereal for a month then we can start on the veggies. So on August 19th we can start him on the yellow veggies introducing a new one each week. His first time with the cereal was a big deal and everyone says how messy and cute it is so we set up the video camera on the tripod. He spit some of it out but he ate most of and while he made some cute faces it wasn't as messy as I thought it would be. It was cute to watch him make chewing motions. He is growing up so much each day.

4 month Dr. visit
Today Logan visited the doctor for his 4 month appointment. Dr. Katz is a really nice doctor and their office is set up really well. They have a separate entrance for sick kids so that they don't play with the same toys. They also have turtles which is fun. Logan weighed 15 lbs was 25 1/4 inches long. He was in the 85th percentile for weight and 80th for length. Dr. Katz said he was doing well developmentally and that we could start him on rice cereal if we wanted to. Logan then had his second round of shots, which he didn't like but calmed down right afterwards. He is such a good baby. Here is a picture of him playing after his shots, aren't his bandaids cute?
Last night Mike-e and I were hanging out in his office while Logan was trying to go to sleep. Suddenly he started making his frustrated noises so I figured he had gotten his legs caught in the bars of his crib. Mike-e went in his room to check on him and then came back to get me. I went in his room and was surprised to see him on his tummy holding his head up to see us. Apparently he decided he wanted to do tummy time so he rolled over onto his stomach. It was really cute and unexpected.

4 Months Old
Today Logan is four months old. I can't believe how fast time goes by. We went to church today and blessed Logan. Mike-e did a really good job with the blessing. After the blessing, Logan started getting tired so I took him out to the hall and rocked him to sleep. There was a musical number where one of the members sung "I Heard him come". He did a beautiful job with the song. Later we went to my parents house for a barbeque. Mike-e's family came over too and we all visited for awhile. It was a really nice day out, just a little hot.

Happy 4th of July!
Today was Logan's first 4th of July. We had a pretty low key day. We went to the mall so I could try and use the rest of the gift card my mom got me for my birthday. I didn't find anything so we mostly just walked around the mall. I did get Logan some clothes though. Later after his 6:30 feeding we walked down to Sweetwater park to participate in Lone Tree's 4th of July activities. Logan got to see some goats, a llama, and a donkey in the petting zoo. He looked at the animals but I'm not sure how interested he was. I was afraid the llama was going to spit on him and the donkey seemed really interested in Logan's socks. Afterwords we went and found a place on the lawn where we could see the fireworks. It was hard to find a good spot because a lot of people were smoking. Logan played and "danced" to the music (which wasn't that good). Then right before the fireworks were about to start he got cranky and fell asleep in my arms. He slept through all the fireworks that were sent up. Lone Tree caught the field on fire so they had to stop the fireworks early. Even though Logan slept through the fireworks it was a really good night. Logan let me rock him to sleep in my arms. He hasn't let me do that in awhile and it was really nice just to hold him.

Worth it
Tonight Logan was playing in his bouncer and he started to get cranky. I picked him up and told him that we should go change him because he was getting smelly. As I put my arm under his butt to carry him upstairs I suddenly felt something wet and sticky. Low and behold Logan had pooped and it had gotten all over his backside. We had to wash his bouncer cover and I had to give him a bath. The funny thing is that I didn't really mind getting pooped on and I loved giving him his bath so it was totally worth it. He has such a fun time in the tub now days and normally Mike-e gives him his bath during the day, so I miss that interaction. I love that little guy so much.

Going to sleep at night
I'm sitting here at the computer waiting for Logan to go to sleep so I can go to bed. He goes through fazes where he cries, then starts to "talk" to himself, then is quite then it starts all over. It's really weird. He's really screaming now, better go.

New Milestone!
Today Logan rolled over! I was doing tummy time with him and he started getting very cranky. He apparently decided that he no longer wanted to do tummy time so he rolled back over onto his back. I was so excited and yelled for Mike-e since he wasn't with me. Mike-e was bummed that he missed it so we put Logan back on his tummy to see if he would do it again and he did. I got it on video tape too. As soon as Mike-e gets it edited and formated he'll post it on the blog. It's amazing how happy we were over this accomplishment. Life it's funny that way. When you are little everyone tells you that you are doing a great job for all the little things, when you grow up sometimes no one even appreciates the big things.
